Outlook 2013 People & Calendar greyed out

I have been using HTC Sync with Outlook 2010 without any problems for a few years. I have recently installed Outlook 2013 and now can't use HTC Sync because the people and calendar options can't be turned on from the main window (they are greyed out). I can turn all of the other options on but the most important ones for me are calendar and people.

I have tried uninstall and repair options of Outlook and HTC Sync, running programs as administrator etc and can't find a way of making this work properly. I have found it suddenly working after coming back and connecting the phone but after turning off the pc or updating an element of windows, it stops again.

From working without problems to not working and being able to sync music, bookmarks, documents, gallery etc, suggests that HTC Sync and the phone are working ok but that somehow it can't find people & calendar on the pc to sync with. Has anyone else had this problem & solved it?

Phone unable to find HTC Sync on my PC

I have had my HTC Sensation for a little over 2 weeks and have just synced my music once. This morning, I wanted to add more music. I connected my phone to my PC and HTC Sync was recognized but I realized I didn't have enough memory to put the music I wanted on my phone. So I disconnected and deleted some of the music from my playlist. When I tried to reconect it, my phone was "Unable to find HTC Sync on my PC." I tried restarting my computer and my phone. Then I uninstalled HTC Sync and reinstalled it from the SD card. I am not very good technology (my wife has to help) and she can't figure it out either. Does anyone have any advice? Please help!

HTC Sync is useful to you? Any problem or suggestion?

I knew there's a sync tool on HTC(HTC Sync), but really didn't need to use it daily. Are those stability issue or really useless tool that people get rid of it? Any problem or suggestion for this?

HTC Sync 3: Calendar and People Greyed out. Cannot Sync with Outlook

Hello Folks,

I thought I would post this for anyone else that is having issues with HTC Sync 3. I just upgraded from my Windows Mobile 6.5 phone to the Android HTC Thunderbolt so I was use to syncing my Outlook Calendar and Contacts to my phone with Windows Mobile Device Center. For whatever reason, once I got HTC Sync installed and connected to the TB, the Calendar and People options were grayed out. After a lot of searching the web and colorful metaphors, I finally found two solutions that when combined, allowed me to sync Outlook 2010 using HTC Sync 3.

What I did was run a repair on Outlook 2010.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs & Features > Outlook 2010. Choose Repair.

This will take a few minutes and did not destroy any of my existing data in the outlook.pst file.

When it is complete, reboot your PC. Your HTC Sync should now allow you to enable both Calendar and People tabs.

IMPORTANT: Before you connect your Android to the PC and run HTC Sync, make sure that:

1. If you have used another program to copy your contacts information to the device, you should delete the Android data first. Otherwise you will get duplicates in Outlook and the Android. To delete the contacts, I went to People > Menu > Delete > Menu > Select All > Delete

2. If you have used another program to copy your calendar information to the device, you should delete the Android data first. Otherwise you will get duplicates in Outlook and the Android. To delete the calendar information do:

a. Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All (tab) > Calendar Storage > Clear Data

You will also need to do:

b. Calendar > Menu > more > calendar’s > menu > remove Calendars > select calendar > OK.

After that, I was able to sync my Outlook 2010 information to the HTC Thunderbolt.

HTC Sync Debug Error (Sensation 4G)

I've been able to sync my HTC Sensation 4G until this problem started happening yesterday.

Earlier in the day the Sync program worked fine. Later on at night, I tried to run Sync again and this message kept popping up. I tried pressing Retry, but that would just force the program to close. Same thing with Ignore. I tried pressing Abort and I would get another error and then the program with force close.

Between the morning and night, I hadn't run any updates to Windows, or any other software on my machine. I had my Sensation 4G plugged in and in charge mode after it successfully ran Sync in the morning. There was virtually nothing changed during the day. But now all of a sudden the software is crashing whenever I try to sync my phone. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know of any fixes?

How to sync Lotus Notes Calendar with Gingerbread/Sync 3.0

Anyone successful in doing so? I just want a simple USB sync and when I contacted HTC support they indicated you could do this; however, when I open the calendar sync I can't enable it...that option is grayed out. I can't even select sync to Outlook although I only have express installed so assumed that was my problem.

HTC Sync Inspire does not sync from phone to PC

Have version 3.0.5579 latest for the Inspire. Syncs OK PC to phone, but gives me a Warning stating: "unable to copy calendar items from your device."

I sync from Gmail and Outlook 2003 and OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. As HTC Sync has zero settings (as far as I can see), how do I fix it so calendar items I set on the phone will sync to the PC?

HTC SYNC to SD card Music podcasts and audiable cannot be seen

i have synced from itunes some playlists of podcasts music and audiable books. the sync appears to be successful but when I look at the music app the only think i can see are is the music that came with the phone.

Is there a setting somewhere I need to make so be able for the app to see the Sd card?

Can anyone help me?

I have read several other forums, and have removed the HTC sync software several times on both my PC's and still nothing. I have even uninstalled my Motorola sync manager for my x2, and of course nothing. I have also reset my rezound several times. (but not yet reset it to factory yet). I have also made sure my two win 7 pc's are up to date.

Anyways the last time I tried to sync to the HTC sync the phone connected but the HTC sync interface did not recognize the phone and got an error that it stopped unexpectedly.

Here is the failed screen shot of the HTC sync and the phone states connected and syncing but nothing shows up on the screen.

HTC Hero200 does not have HTC Sync on it (after reset). How do I get it on the handset?

I tried all of the different methods suggested by forum discussions, but what worked for me was just a different approach. First I downloaded the program (16 minutes), then turned off the software. Hooked up the USB cord to the PC, but not the phone. From my phone, I activated the SYNC (Menu, Settings, Accounts and sync, sync all). When the phone began to search for a connection, I connected the USB cord to the phone, and opened the PC application. The PC software recognized the phone and I was up and running.

I use this method each and every time I sync, and have had no more difficulties connecting.

HTC Sync Corrupts Outlook Contacts

I recently switched to an HTC Sensation 4G (Android 2.2.3, HTC Sense 3.0, Firmware 1.29.531.2). My desktop computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1) 64-bit, and I am using Outlook 2010 (32-bit).
I originally installed HTC Sync V3.0.5551 from the SD card, but it had problems connecting to the phone. With the help of HTC Support, I downloaded and installed V 3.0.5557 (for TABLETS), which has since updated to 3.0.5559.
Synchronization with Outlook contacts and calendar seems to be running at good speed, and I haven’t had any problems with duplicated or unexpectedly deleted contacts. However...
HTC Sync Version 3.0.5579
This application claims to synchronize the contacts list on the phone with Outlook's Contacts folder. There is a warning that any fields that do not exist on the phone will not be synchronized. However, that is incorrect. They WILL be synchronized -- which means that the values stored in Outlook WILL be changed. Therefore:
1. Honorifics (the "title" before a name, such as "Mr." or "Dr.") are DELETED... but not always
2. File As fields are IGNORED (Outlook APPEARS to be sorting on SUBJECT field, although the view is set to sort on File As field)
3. Telephone numbers are MODIFIED (spaces between country code, area code, and exchange are removed; spaces within local numbers are removed)
4. E-mail “Display As” fields are REPLACED with the contents of the corresponding E-mail fields
5. Subject fields are lost (conditions not yet identified - seems to be related to subject field being SET to full name)
Shall we say that, having invested a lot of time and effort in getting my Outlook contacts to look the way I want, having HTC Sync overwrite the contents of the Outlook contacts is NOT satisfactory?
My workaround is as follows:
1. I created a new folder in Outlook (let’s call it the “sync” folder)
2. I configured HTC Sync to synchronize contacts with the sync folder instead of with the Contacts folder
3. Whenever I have made changes to the contacts in Outlook (I have about 10,000 contact records, with new records added almost every day), I:
a) Delete the contents of the sync folder
b) Copy the contents of the Contacts folder to the sync folder
c) Connect the phone and allow synchronization to take place
Of course, this means that I don’t bother to make changes to contacts on the phone, because the only way to synchronize them back to Outlook is to MANUALLY copy the changes from a record in the sync folder to the corresponding record in the Contacts folder.
Now my question: Has anybody else encountered this kind of corruption of the Outlook contacts? More to the point, does anybody have any suggestions for eliminating it, so that synchronization does what it is supposed to do?

Syncing to two different computers

I am syncing a Thunderbolt to Outlook on my home computer. I have noticed that it will copy calendar events to the phone but not from the phone to Outlook. Which is actually a good thing, but I don't think that is the way it's supposed to work. But there don't seem to be any settings on the desktop app to set up which direction syncing is supposed to be done (I have had several sync programs for Palm and iPAQ devices and all of them allow one-way or two-way syncing, but not HTC).

I am wondering what will happen if I sync the phone with my office computer as well. Will it upload all the events from my home computer to the office, and vice versa? I do not want both of these computers to have the same calendar, so I don't want to sync the phone to both if it's going to cause that to happen.

Sorry if this has been addressed, I can’t seem to find a way to search forums and requests to HTC for instructions go unanswered…

TWO issues with HTC Sync and Outlook 2007

1. When it syncs my contacts it strips out the commas (which is a "pause" during dialing) and changes for example:

(702) 395-7603 ,,1,,3,3,3,3

(702)395-760313333

It did this to ALL my contacts!

2. For no apparent reason, it duplicated all my contacts, and some quadruplicated – if they were “displayed as” by Company Name (Last, First)

I can’t get it to stop and when I delete the duplicate, it reproduces it!

Please can someone hlep me as I am pulling my hair out!!

I JUST want Outlook to sync with my HTC Wildfire. Not a big issue I thought but HTC keeps duplicating random contacts! I shoudl have 203, just synced and have 877!! Luckily, I always back up my contacts so now I have to delete all contacts in the phone and outlook, sync, re-import (AGAIN!) all the contacts into Outlook and re-sync. Until I add another contact or two and then start the process all over again!

Ideally, I'd have a 2-way sync so that I could actually add contacts to the phone but that seemed like too much for the phone and it would just randomly sync whatever it wanted so I THOUGHT it would be easier just to use one system to sync but I was wrong!!

Please help!? Am running windows 7 and outlook 2010 and don't have the phone syncing contacts with facebook, twitter or google contacts (unless i've missed a setting other than in accounts&sync and then go into each app and uncheck the relevant box.

HTC software can destroy an Outlook address book

I recently purchased an HTC (AT&T) Inspire- on synching with outlook it deleted contacts, messed up contacts so that some were lastname, firstname, others the opposite, changed data within the contact fields, and so on. When I called support the person on the phone denied any problem with HTC software (though the net if full of complaints) and suggested it was an outlook problem. Since outlook synchs just fine with apple Mobile me and with a Zimbra system at a university - it is not an "outlook problem" - it is an HTC problem. The customer service person offered no advice and basically denied any problems with anything HTC. When I returned to the AT&T store one of the salespeople said, "Yeah, we recommend that customers use Google mail and don't use the HTC software."

Just admit the problem and fix it.

HTC Sync - Won't work on Freestyle

I just got this phone and I wanted to try and access it with my PC to upload custom wallpapers and ring tones and what not. So far it's seemingly impossible. HTC Sync doesn't seem to work. Every option is greyed out. When I click Sync Now it just says "All categories are switched off"...but it won't let me turn anything on. I tried to select Disk Drive faster fire transfer in the phone's settings, but it is also greyed out. Won't let me access it as a removable drive either. Anyone have any answers for this issue?

Can't we just get a simple backup/restore sync app?

The HTC Sync app requires other applications on your desktop in order to sync anything. For your address book/calendar it requires Outlook, for bookmarks it requires IE.

Outlook comes with Office, which costs a lot. I have Outlook at work ... but I don't want/need my work contacts on my phone and I don't want/need my personal contacts in my office address book. Similarly, I don't want the ton-and-a-half of bookmarks I have on my desktop IE on my phone, and my mobile bookmarks aren't very useful on my desktop.

Moreover, it does not save everything, the Scenes for instance.

Can't we just get an app that saves the current state of the phone, and restores it again when needed?

Even if not to the desktop PC, how about to the SD card?

I just did a complete wipe-it-all-out system data reset, and I am appalled at what is _not_ being restored. And I have _always_ been annoyed at the need to mix up my work and personal address books. Is it just me? Am I being unreasonable to want this? Or are there others out there who feel the same way I do?

Everything is installed on my computer and phone properly. I verified it did install on my phone via my virus scanner. But when I plug my phone in I don't get an option to sync. The only options I get are "Select to disable USB debugging" and "Select to copy files to/from your computer".

So I thought I share my wisdom on what I found out thus far relative to the DoubleShot.

1. I contacted customer support about making it available and this was their reply:

"We certainly understand wanting to make sure your can properly connect your phone to the PC. Unfortunately, the myTouch 4G does not currently support connection to the HTC Sync software. This is an intention design function of the device."

My Reply to this statement was:

I would like to make this comment and also ask one more question:
This to me is a DESIGN Flaw of this particular phone! With it's capabilities to act as a ROUTER it makes it more in-tune for a small business.
Yet, Most small businesses do not use OTA/CLOUD computing of email outside company servers. This makes usage for businesses a non candidate not to mention the home user who find this out and don't discover/decide on a work around.

This also invalidates this web page (http://www.htc.com/www/help/) and the provided USER documentation (http://www.htc.com/us/content/documents/myTouch_4G_Slide/mytouch-4g-slide-user-manual.pdf) on page 113,.

Question:
Also why do you all NOT even provide the Driver for Tethering the phone (Drives are provided on the enclosed SD Card but they could not be the latest available)?

2. The software that I found that worked with my Outlook 2003 version is My Phone Explorer version 1.8.2 (http://www.fjsoft.at/en/) supper software for resolving issues with Outlook!

3. In my research is seems as if Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) is what is causing the issue for HTC i.e. HTCSync seems to be a problem on all phones that use this version of the O.S.

If anyone ever get's HTCSync working on this OS and in particular for this phone with Outlook please share that information!
