I bought my Thunderbolt yesterday and when I began using the camera last night, it was working fine. Today, however, I receive this message error when I try to use the front facing camera. I click on the camera link off the desktop, go to menu, select "switch camera" and then that error message appears. Any ideas whats going on?
What program are you using fir the front facing camera? I thought the front facing camera was not turned on yet.
It sounds like the camera may still be associated with another program on the camera. What other programs did you use the camera with the night before? Just make sure they are off or not using the camera.
Please Tag your post. Holding your finger for maybe 2-3 seconds on items on the phone works in several areas
I am also having this problem. I used the front facing camera last night, I went to use it this morning and I am getting the same error messages every time I try to use it. The rear camera works fine. I have not installed any programs since last night that would be attempting to use the camera.
I just found a fix to the problem, I did what it says and my front facing camera works again:
try clearing out any corrupt camera data. This can be done by going into Settings-Applications-Manage Applications, hit the All tab up top and select Camera. Then choose clear data. Most of the time corrupt data is the culprit if an app is force closing and clearing the data may fix it.
....
Works like a charm, thanks Freddie-Fred!

That should also show up under "Running" because its still associated with another app/program. I would check here next time that way you can try to narrow down the app/program that is not releasing the camera.
The reason i say to go here is becasue also in running you will find that app/program still running most likely which will help you narrow it down. This will allow you to update that program or go thru the settings maybe for that app/program so it wont hold the camera like that or just exit out that app/program when your done using it.
This running window is also handy for closing apps/programs you used but are not using right now........thus not draining the battery.
FYI - For games and other data related apps/programs......."clear cache or clear data" is not really what you want to do. Example: If your on a game and you have 2 levels to go and you clear those, your progress is deleted and you start back at the beginning. Any apps/programs that use data you input to run or save will be gone.
If these apps/programs are stuck then just use "Force Close". Using force close does not delete anything but the app/program is restarted next time you open it to use it.
Any apps you download, thru here you should also be able to move to the phone SD card. Anything you download i would move to the SD card, any files, photos, data should also be saved to the SD card.
The only reason for this is if the phone dies or its dropped in water....the card will not be damaged and can be taken out and put in another phone and all your stuff will be there.
You can also take the card from the phone and put it in your computer (card reader slot) and move stuff over this way.
hey, i also used that thing, but it doesnât fix the
rear cam, the problem still doesnt solve.
Hey criss1122,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve been having with your phone! I have some troubleshooting steps that should help narrow down what’s causing that behavior for you. Try starting your phone in safe mode; this will prevent any troublesome apps from automatically starting after a fresh restart of your phone. To get in safe mode, remove your battery for 60-90 seconds, reinsert the battery and power your phone on. As soon your screen comes on, press and hold your Volume Down button until your phone is completely on. If successful you should see the words safe mode in the bottom corner; test your phone in this mode and see if your problem continues. If it doesn’t, the problem is likely an app that was installed from the google play store or other source – remove some of the apps to narrow down which is the cause of the trouble (to exit safe mode, simply repeat the steps above of removing your battery).
Give those steps a try and shoot us a reply back with your results!
