  • I suppose I'm getting use to the land of Android full of its little quirks but has anyone else experienced similar problems to those below?

    1. INTERMITTENT: When searching in Maps the search query will infinitely search until I force close the application and re load it. Only then will a search query fully execute.
    2. INTERMITTENT: Phone will drop down from 4G to 1xRTT completely bypassing 3G from time to time. A hard reset does always fixes, entering and then exiting airplane mode sometimes works and entering field test mode, dropping to CDMA auto PRL then switching to LTE Mode occasionally works as well (but not all the time).
    3. INTERMITTENT: Some kind of accidental touching of the volume buttons makes the phone go into vibrate mode, but instead of vibrating once to indicate the mode the phone will vibrate infinitely until the volume button is pushed again.
  • Severe battery issues.  Possible software issues. Brand new phone and battery: Power draining rapidly yesterday so I charged it and at bedtime was at 75%, put it back on the charger, and though the phone was on, screen on, I thought it would turn that off itself in 30 seconds anyway, per its settings.  No Instead the screen was still on in the morning and the phone had no remaining power.  I took it off the charger and it turned itself off.  Pluged in into the car chager and got it to turn on again finally, which is when it told me it has 2% charge or less, and turned itself off again. BTW I had turned wifi, but not hotspot on yesterday.  What good is a phone if you can't use it and its features without it dieing?  When is an extended power battery going to be availiable?

  • It seems like software/hardware interface issue to me. I had to return my first handset because it would not activate, then when it did, it would not read the SD card. After getting a new handset I still have the following problems

    1. Random resets. The phone resets for no apparent reason.  On one occasion it shut off and did not restart. This seems (from other posts) to be linked to the  recent update. I will note that the frequency of resets is not as high for me as others. Also after a reset the phone will chew through the battery at a much higher rate.

    2. Drops 3g coverage. This is my biggest complaint. I am a truck driver and use my phone to stream Pandora. It will simply drop data coverage and I then have to restart the phone to get it back. VERY annoying and not particularly safe when driving!

    3. My wife complains of a loud screech or static noise in call. This may have more to do with Bluetooth as she only complains if I am using a headset.

I am going to wait for the rumored Gingerbread/Sense update this summer before final judgment, but I my send this phone back.

    I am very disappointed.

  • Agreed on power drain issues, it just eats the battery whole. The HTC included charger is actually quite horrible, Rocketfish makes a micro-USB charger that it capable of sending a higher amperage to the phone resulting in much quicker charge cycles. I used the market app "Battery Monitor Widget" to see the amperage difference, which was significant. An answer? Nope. Just a workaround for a problem that shouldn't exist. I also turn off 4G most the time, it's the main battery killer.

  • I am on my 3rd Thunderbolt. The 3rd worked great for the 1st 8 days then it started to reboot, the GPS was wacky, 4G to 1xRTT but will reset after a minute and this past week it would totally loose data connection. Our Thunderbolts could be the best devices on the market if they just worked. If the rumor Ginderbread update does not work this device is gone I will not accept another Thunderbolt replacement.

I said it once before and i will say it again... I miss my Blackberry!

  • My frequent issues include:

TEXT MESSAGE PROGRAM lags horrible. I will type and it will take 20 seconds for the letters to appear on the screen.

TEXT MESSAGE PROGRAM freezes and force closes.

MAKING CALLS my phone likes to wait up to 45 seconds to call the person once I have hit the send button.

SHUTTING OFF I wish I had the reboot issue. Mine likes to shut off and not turn back on. Sucks when you are late to work because HTC sells a lemon.

TURNING ON sometimes my phone doesn't want to turn on. It is common that i will have to hold down the power button for 10 seconds before phone responds.

GPS PROBOBLY THE MOST FRUSTRATING ISSUE The GPS has taken over ten minutes to get a signal. I consider myself lucky if it only takes 5 minutes. I had an Envy Touch in the past and the GPS on that was phenomenal. I buy a much better phone and get WAY worse GPS with it. I live in a area with no large buildings so I'm not buying that as the excuse for the bad GPS.

Super dissapointed by this phone and it just seems to get worse and worse. These are just the issues I incurr almost daily.

  • I have noticed the 4g-1X issue a bunch.  I've been either doing a reset, or occasionally going through the settings-->network menus to turn off and then turn back on the network.  My problems with this phone are almost entirely intermittent, which is the most frustrating thing about it.  Still, I love the phone.

  • My experience with the Thunderbolt has been pretty bad. The battery will last not even half day if you're not using it too heavily. 2 or 3 hours if your are lucky after a full overnight charge.

What completely destroys my love for the phone is the random rebooting (happens about once a day) and the terrible GPS. The GPS takes 1-5 minutes to know where it is! This is really annoying because you just have to sit there and wait. Yelp, Maps, Foursquare, Navigation become much less usable.

Yes, I have thought of returning my Thunderbolt and exchanging it for an iPhone. I don't really like Apple, but there aren't many great alternatives out there.
