It HAS connected one time before. I connected them with the USB cable and was able to put some music from the computer to the phone. Now when I try, the "F" drive for my computer comes up but then keeps telling me to insert a disk. When I check the drivers for the phone, it says they're good and working properly- BUT my phone WILL NOT show up! What do I do??? I can't get my computer to say it's got a phone connected to it. UNTIL I go to "safely remove hardware" and then it's listed!
I'm having the same issue, but I've never been able to connect to my PC. Please advise a solution.
i just bought this phone and i am having the same issue...........so i call att customer care and after a few minutes on hold they come back and tell me that to tether to my pc via usb it will be an upgrade to 4g and this will be an additional 20.00 per phone ( my wife has one also) on top of the 25.00 month data charge.
p.s. i am not through with att on this....i will post any resolution i get.
That's ridiculous! I haven't even tried to teather the phone to the computer, I just want to be able to connect the two so I can swap files between them. I haven't had this phone for long either and am already thinking about sending it back. I like it but I've already had a few strange things happen with it. Such as my computer picking it up ONCE and never again... And 5 videos I've taken have mysteriously disappeared. I like the phone otherwise but I can't deal with things like that.
Hey! I found the solution to my problem!!! When I turned off the WiFi on my phone, I was able to connect to my computer with the USB cord. It wouldn't show it at all when the WiFi was on though.
Hopefully this simple bit of info will help someone else.
Also: I had 5 videos mysteriously missing from the phone but they showed up on the computer after I connected to it.
I understand how important it can be to print photos from your ATT inspire while connected to your computer. Your device is not programmed to print documents from a computer. You can transfer your pictures to your computer in disk drive mode, then print the pictures from your computer if you have a printer available. Connect your device to your computer with the USB Cord, Go on your device to Home, Menu, Settings, Connect to a PC, Default Connection Type, and choose Disk Drive. Allow your device to connect to your computer. Locate the removable disk drive under computer or my computer. Locate the DCIM folder to access 100MEDIA, Transfer your pictures to your computer from your storage card. Make sure you go under your connect to pc screen and choose charge only before disconnecting your device from a computer. This will keep any data from being deleted from your device. this is the reply i got from htc.......i haven't tried it yet, but will post my results
Hit the Menu button, click on Settings and there should be a USB symbol with "Connect to PC" by it. This will let you pick how the phone connects to the PC and you can set the default connection.
This only worked for me AFTER I turned off the WiFi connection on my phone.
I had this problem as well. Go into your Settings and open the Applications tab. Uncheck "Fast Boot". I haven't had the issue since and haven't seen any negative effects to my phone. Don't understand exactly what Fast Boot does but I haven't had any problems.
I have had the same problem for a long time now too. Tried all kinds of things to get it to work, and finally figured out what the problem was. There is something differnt with the USB connection that you get with the phone than the ones you get after- market stuff like you get from Wal-Mart. You have to ues the one that come with the phone with the HTC tag on it then it will work.
THANKS ! - This one just worked for me too...
I'm having the same problem...my phone is NOT recognized on my computer...it keeps saying insert disc...I have done all the steps mentioned below and NO success
My phone had been working fine and then quit connecting to the PC, it was still charging, just no connection. After unplugging and reconnecting a couple times I checked my Win7 machine, I had an error for a USB connection in the Device Manager. After disabling and re-enabling it my phone connected just fine again. I should mention that I am using the original USB cable that came with the phone, and the phone is an HTC Inspire.
