It is normal for the device to pause when opening programs. It may also pause when sending a text message (SMS), making or receiving a phone call, or browsing the Internet.
Good to Know’s:
· To use its memory most efficiently, the device only runs a maximum of 6 applications at one time.
· Android does not include a task manager program for closing running applications. As new applications open, Android closes unused applications.
· Turning off the device closes all applications. To view the running applications, press and hold the Home key.
· There is not an option to save applications downloaded and installed from Market directly on a SD Card; they are automatically saved to the devices memory but may be able to be moved to the storage card by going to Home>Menu>Settings>Applications> Manage Applications> and touching the on the application to be moved. If available, select the “Move to SD Card” button. Not all applications have this option and once the application has been moved to the Storage Card, the card will be required to use these applications.
· All pictures, video and music files are automatically saved to the SD Card; these functions will not work on the device without an SD Card being present.
· If device memory becomes low, older SMS/MMS will be deleted to make room. Alternatively, the user can go to Menu>Settings> Storage settings within the Messages app, and modify the Storage Settings for the following:
o Delete Old Message as limits are reached.
o Set the limit of SMS/MMS to be retained per thread/conversation.
If the device freezes, runs slowly, or displays low memory errors, follow these steps:
3. Check the device for a static cling screen protector, if present, remove and retest.
o If the issue remains, Soft Reset the device.
4. Check the device for a carrying case with a tight fit or magnetic closure; some magnets can interfere with the Touch Screen responsiveness.
o If using one of these cases, have the user remove the device from the case and retest.
7. Ensure that the Charger/Data Cable is the one intended for the device by HTC.
o Use of non OEM chargers/data cables can cause your screen to become unresponsive (due to the power being allocated to charging the task, and not the screen).
o HTC can only guarantee items such as chargers that have been made, made for and certified by HTC. Our chargers have been tested and passed strenuous quality and safety regulations, and it is recommended you only use HTC chargers with your phone. You must be very careful when using electrical appliances; using products that have not been tested properly or that have not been tested at all could cause your phone to malfunction, or even in extreme cases, could injure you.

My HTC inspire came with a class 4 8gb sandisk microsd card. I wanted more space so I bought a 32gb class 4 kingston microsd card. When I made the exchange, I noticed that the phone developed a little lag. I've tried to reset the phone, etc but it still just isn't the same as it was with the 8gb card. I also tried to put the 8gb card back and it was working fine again. Does the inspire not do well with that much space or could it be a bad card? Thanks.

The phone should not do this is the first place. Please update the phone soon to fix all the glitches. Its not always the consumers fault.
This message was inaccurate so I have removed it.
i read the post above and i've been having some issues with my inspire...could it be caused by my sims card? they took my old sims card from my xenon and put it in my inspire when i got it..any help would be greatly appreciated
I've had several issues with my Inspire. Neither Best Buy (where I purchased my phone) nor AT&T (that I contacted today) know anything about a 4G SIM card. They both say no such thing exists.
??
No such thing does exist. The same SIM card will work on any phone. I have confirmed this with HTC, AT&T, and Best Buy.
Not sure where you heard this, but there is no such thing as a 4G SIM. the same ATT sim will work on any phone

Be sure to fact check yourself before posting. There is a 4G sim card. I have one in my phone. That being said, the 4G sim works the same as a 3G sim. The only difference is that the 4G sim will work on LTE, which the Inspire doesn't use anyway.
I recently bought the Inspire a few weeks ago. Everything was fantastic for about the first week and half but it started lagging really slow. The screen wouldn't move as soon as I gestured, or it wouldn't register my touch at all. The apps we taking forever to load, or they'd crash. And most recently, a few days ago, the HTC logo has been coming up and then a "Loading" box would follow. The box would stay for about 30 seconds at minimum, but lately it's been there for minutes.
Last night, the loading box came up SIX times in a row. Finally, I just pulled the battery. I figured I'd remove the other door just to take a look around, and whattaya-know? The memory card wasn't in place. Not sure that this had anything to do with it, but as soon as I got the phone back on, I removed Advanced Task Killer and downloaded Watchdog Task Manager (per another thread in this forum), and my phone is good as new. Seriously, everything is running brilliantly.
Thanks!
I am having problems with the messaging part,as far as texting and pic messaging,it gets real slow or freezes up,i had a mytouch and htc evo and they did the same thing.why is this happening,oh and also when u talk on it ,its real static .
I just got the Inspire yesterday and am having major issues. It keeps spontaneously rebooting. When it does this, occassionally it successfully reboots, but most of the time it just freezes on the white screen with htc logo. At this point, I have not been able to do anything with it other than remove the battery to get the phone back.
I have tried a hard reset once, and that didn't seem to work at all (ie - it didn't even do what it was supposed to do; all my personal information was still there). I'm trying the hard reset again, but if unsuccessful, I think I'll have to return the phone. These spontaneous issues can occur at any time. It has even happened when not even using the phone; just having it sitting in standby mode or recharging, I'll hear a little buzz, then see it stuck on the white screen again.
That sounds like a bad unit. I'd swap that out for a replacement.
The second attempt at hard reset at least did what it was supposed to do (put everything back to factory settings and make me login again, etc), but didn't fix the problems. Looks like I did get a bad unit.
