I just bought a new HTC Sensation and so far the phone is great. The only BIG issue I have so far is the volume level is terrible. I had a blackberry 8320 and the volume on it would wake the dead. I first thought it HAD to be something in the settings. I have every slider maxed out. If I have the phone in my pocket I cannot hear it ring. If I am in a noisy location, i.e. Mall, Outdoors, Car at highway speeds, etc I miss calls. If I am in another room at home I cannot hear it ring. Is it possible there is something wrong with my phone or does the volume level just suck on this phone? My wife's Garminfone (Android) is super loud.
No it's not just you, its me and a bunch others. Seems like a universal problem with this phone. Love everything else about it except that. I called HTC and they told me that there wasn't a fix for it and maybe I could download something off the Market to help. Sorry, not an option for me. I'm returning it. Hate that too....
Do you have the option for it to ring louder when it's in your pocket? Also you might try changing ring tones to something like an old POTS phone, can't remember what it's called in the list but the old time phone is pretty loud.
I went from Blackberry to HTC a few phones ago... you will need to get used to it as its an HTC thing. Not sure whats up but thats one thing I miss from my BB. With Windows you can mess with the registry files but Android is different. I use speaker phone pretty often and picked a loud, distinguishable ring tone.
Same problem here. I am dependent upon the speaker phone and am really disappointed.. I talked to support at HTC and they seem not to even acknowledge that it is a problem at all. I saw a chart of the various db levels of many phones and the sensation was 2nd from the bottom. Hard to believe that HTC would create a potentially great phone and then chop the legs out from underneath it with a speak design so terrible. I hope they get the message after they get a million returns under the grace period.
Yes, I got the same problem. and this is the only issue I am with the phone now.
Please Fix HTC!!!!!!!! Same issue here.
I too went from a blackberry to an HTC Sensation and can't hear a danged thing even at top volume! I'm of an older persuasion too so this is a big issue for me. Too late to return the phone now and would have to buy full price retail to switch to another brand because of my plan. I'm not happy.
HTC One S sucks!!! Nice looks, bad volume, I have to be in an empty library to be able to hear the phone ring, otherwise it can't be heard, HTC spend an extra $2 or $3 on a better and louder speaker so everyone can enjoy their F@$&?@ Music , I'm returning the phone and going with a Motorola Rzr last one I had was very loud, I had to turn the volume down XD, not even an audio booster app helped the issue, I don't think HTC is testing the phones before sending them to the market, I think WE are the ones testing it and giving them free feed back. Not me, Not anymore!
One thing that at least helps to prevent losing the volume accidentally, is an app called-
"RingGuard" This app doesn't increase the volume per-say, but does prevent losing the volume accidentally, because of the STUPID design of the big side bar volume control. Anytime the volume is changed, it asks for a confirmation on the screen, if you don't say yes, it reverts to the previously set volume, after a time period which you can set.
