cant sync my evo to my compuer

  • I cant seem to sync my evo 4g to my windows xp computer. I downloaded the sync program from the htc website and when i go to install it I keep getting a message about the software has not passed the windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp. it goes on to say it can impair or destablize my operating system if I continue. So I said oh well ill continue anyway. nope it still will not work.

contacted sprint, they tried to talk me thru it and couldnt. then they said to contact microsoft, they said it wasnt their issue and to contact dell. I didnt even bother because I know if MS cant help... what is dell going to do as its a WINDOWS LOGO probem, not dell.

All I want is to be able to put some songs on my phone. I saw a youtube vid showing how you can use itunes songs for your evo.

does anyone know whats going on here? talk about disappointment, just got my phone and no one can help :(

  • I have given up syncing my EVO.  Every time I sync it duplicates calendar events (up to 18 of the same events!) and deletes random contacts.  It has been a nightmare.

  • I also have given up on syncing my EVO with Windows 7. I have had success with just using my EVO as an external drive and loading music, pix and ebooks that way. The EVO is smart enough to find these files on its own...yet not smart enough to find itself on my computer.

  • I had the same problem. I tried all the various versions and found that this version worked on my XP and Vista machines "3.0.5511".  After you install this version DON"T do any of the revisions, it will stop working.

  • I am so frustrated.  Not sure why it won't work, but I lose things and then the things I would love to lose - they disappear!

I prefer my Windows Mobile.  It was perfect.  It worked with my Pocket Informant so well too.

And I got it when it first came out, so I ended up spending about $1,000 by the time I signed up for Sprint and everything.

I have had big time issues with it, but I have to say the return policy is beyond belief.  I was with ATT since 1997 and they always hassled me - to no end.  It is why I left.  At least Sprint has people inside the store who can look at things.  Their salespeople are super.  I just love the service.  But for the amount I spent for the phone - and they didn't credit me for the "activation fee" like they promised, and something else - oh, I never got my rebate.  Gave up on it.  Anyway, I don't think I got my money's worth at all.  They are very cheap now.  I just couldn't wait because my ATT phone was dying and it was yet another replacement phone, which they wouldn't replace.

I now have to clear all my contacts on my phone and clean up my Outlook.  YET AGAIN!  There is no fix from what I can tell.  I would try that version you mentioned, but I don't have the energy to find it and try to get it to work.

Oh, I even bought software - Companion Link, and it didn't work either.  Android needs time to get more compatability, but I think it will be awhile because MS and Google aren't very good friends, which leaves us out in the mud.

  • Join the club.   My HTC EVO 4G initially was capable of syncing with my outlook, but then my new laptop. used for business came with Windows 7, and the newest version of Office, and boom, now it will not sync.  Reading through the tech articles, Android has no update for this, at this time, and cant not say when they can fix this issue.

try using Google's Gmail, to sync your data, and you will get double entries on both calendars and contacts.  You will have dates on yoru phone, that will not show up on Gmail, and visa versa, same with contacts.  Some contacts just disappeared.   Data entered on teh Gmail calendar, wont show up on the phone, and visa versa,.

Or you can pay MIrcosoft for a specialized Outlook Syincing software..

You cant win, HTC is a piece of crap for anything to do with business, calendars or contacts.

    GO to Iphone....
