I frequently find that when I'm connected to a wireless network and then leave the area of the wireless network, the phone will still show that I am connected, even though I'm miles away. It also doesn't seem to be scanning for other wireless networks in this state because I can enter the area of another saved wireless network and it will not update. Because the phone THINKS it's connected to wifi it doesn't use the mobile data connection, so I have no data connection at all until I turn the wireless off and back on again, which seems to be the only way to fix the problem. Even then, I've noticed that once or twice a day, the mobile data connection won't start working, even with wifi turned off, and the only way to remedy THIS is to reboot the phone. I would hope that HTC is already working on a fix for this, in the meantime, does anyone know of any workarounds?
I am having exactly the same issues with the HTC One X (Rogers). Rebooting the phone is the easiest way to get it to reconnect to a data connection but turning the WiFi and cellular radios off and on usually makes it reconnect.
Very frustrating situation and I agree that HTC needs to fix this ASAP!
I get the same thing too on AT&T. I have it connected to my home wireless network and then when I leave, it still says I am connected. I also notice that when I leave a Wi-Fi connection area, it doesn't switch over to the 3G network in any reasonable time. Anyone else getting this?
Yes, I'm having the same issue as well. I had emailed HTC about it. They said they are aware and are working on a fix. I'm hoping the OTA update that AT&T released today fixes it.
Same problem. Driving me CRAZY. I downloaded AT&T's software update yesterday thinking it would fix the problem. No dice.
Same issues. Spent all morning on phone with AT&T. Just got phone Saturday, updated software that afternoon. Have rebooted phone 5 times today already.
Guys please read my thread as well.. Performance has also negatively been impacted by this recent OTA update! I know for sure the I/O has.. My Quadrant Standard scores went from 5,444 to 4,013 after installing the OTA update! I used to score over 5,000 on a regular basis.. Now.. after over 60 tests I can't score a 5,000 to save my life :(
Just returned HOX and picked up a new one last night. First thing this morning, lost signal in office, stepped outside, showed full bars and 4g but couldn't make any phone calls or recieve until I rebooted phone. AT&T's suggestion was to buy a different brand of phone, so hoping HTC will do somehting because I love this phone.
Same thing, I've gone through three devices and all of them have done the same exact thing. Whenever I'm in an area with poor reception or without service, and re-enter an area with service, it will not connect, make calls, receive calls, send or receive text messages, or connect to the internet, though it says I have service. In settings it says "Mobile network disconnected due to service being unavailable." Only way to fix is to reboot or cycle airplane mode (airplane mode can take a REALLY long time to turn on when this happens). I do not experience the WiFi issue however.
I emailed HTC and asked them to notify developers, hopefully something is being worked on... though if it is a hardware issue then I'm going to be really angry, I absolutely hate how when you send in a phone for warranty they send you back a "refurbished" device.
I am having the same issue when leaving my home wireless. Turning the wireless radio off and then back on seems to initiate the disconnect and reestablishes the proper data connection. The problem is you have not data connection (3g, 4g or wireless) when you leave the first wireless until you manually re-establish your connection. Fix this soon, or I will just return the phone and move to Samsung III
After I upgraded my firmware to the latest OTA update from AT&T, I don't see the issue of it remembering the previous wifi network any more.
However, still on some occasions, I have to reboot the phone to get my data connection to work! :-(
So, I see some people reporting that the performed the update and are still seeing the problem. As for myself, like ks_10334, I updated my phone 2 weeks ago with the OTA update and haven't seen the issue since. I've had to reboot my phone once or twice because my data connection stopped working, but that seemed to be a separate issue and occurred when I was in an area with only an Edge data network.
A. easy work around is keep " Mobile Connection" off until wi-fi is off, then whenever you lose WiFi turn on Mobile Connection.
