New Netbook sync software install issues

Not Answered
  • I recently purchased a new netbook. I down loaded the HTC Sync manager. When I attempted to install the software I got a pop up box that said "The files for installation requirement Microsoft VC Redist 2005 KB 973544(x86) could not be found. The installation will now stop. This is probably due to a failed, or cancelled download.,

I spoke to HTC on the phone for several minutes, and they concluded it was an issue with the netbook. I chatted with Acer, who could not help me, but suggested that I contact their "for a fee" help line.

I have downloaded the above referenced C++ software from Microsoft, and still get the same pop up box.

I am bamboozled. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

  • Hey Daveb, sorry to hear about the frustration you’re having with getting your phone synced with your new Acer Netbook! To better help you with that problem, there is some additional information I will need.

On the bottom of your netbook you should see several labels, one with the operating system of your netbook and the other displaying the model of your computer. If you could shoot a reply back with the model number and version of Windows that you have, that would be great! Please be cautious though not to post the serial key to your version of Windows as this will be unique to your computer for your eyes only. :)

Next, on your computer for the other piece of information needed – On your desktop press and hold your Windows Key button (bottom left portion of the keyboard with a windows logo and tap your Pause/Break key usually located in the upper right portion of your keyboard. If successful, a window should appear named System Properties displaying various information about your netbook. On this screen, what Service Pack is reported to be installed?
