  • My pone is on. When I press the button on the top of my phone to light up the screen the home buttons light up but my screen remains black. The phone is working because I can get phone calls to come through, and I can hear my emails and calendar notifications. In fact, I was even able to answer the phone call simply by remembering where to touch on the phone. I can't restart it because I can't see anything!!! I need my phone to work!!! This is the 2nd time in 2 days it has done this. Yesterday I just left it alone and it eventually worked but this is really anoying!

    Hi Melibeli55,

That’s strange behavior that you’re experiencing! To help narrow down what is causing the problem, first try a soft reset on your device by pressing and holding your power button for 10-20 seconds; you will notice your buttons will begin to flash momentarily and that’s completely normal - they will soon stop flashing and your phone will restart.

If your display doesn’t come back on after the soft reset, repeat the procedure again and wait approximately 10 seconds or your button lights to come back on. Next, press and your hold your volume down button for approximately 45-90 seconds. If successful, your phone should start up in safe mode showing the words safe mode in the bottom left corner. This state prevents any downloaded apps from the Google Play Store or other source from automatically starting after a fresh restart of your phone. If your screen came back on in safe mode, the likely cause would be an app causing trouble; try uninstalling a few one by one to see which may be causing that behavior.

Give those troubleshooting steps a try, Melibeli55, and shoot a reply back on how you make out! :)

  • OK....tried the restart....the phone restarted but the screen remained black!

I tried restarting it again and holding down the volume button....I don't think it's in safe mode because I don't see "safe mode" anywhere on the screen. But it's working now....I just hope this doesn't happen again!

  • I switched the screen off and put one x on a table and the next time I picked it up I wasn't able to switch it on anymore. It just doesn't give me any response no matter how hard or how long I press the power button. I plugged it in and the charging light doesn't light up. It was just completely dead for a few minutes. And I left it on the table for a while and tried to turn it on again, this time, it worked. This has occurred for at least 3 times within a 3-month period of using this phone. I don't really mind that much as long as it can be turned on later, but it can be a huge problem if it dies when I need to make an emergency call. That will be disastrous !!!
