  • I've read a lot of posts on various forums talked to HTC, Best Buy about the screen going dark & not coming back on. BB says use the power key, HTC says when you move it from your face touch the screen if it doesn't come on. Mine may or may not come on when i extended it to arms length, it will not come on by touching the screen. Who has experienced these issues? I do have a Zagg HD protector on my phone.

  • I had this same problem when I had a different screen protector. The Zagg that I have has a notch cut out for the proximity sensor (about 1/4 inch to the left of the htc logo at the top of the screen). If the screen protector covers that sensor, it could cause problems like that. I haven't had an issue with the Zagg hd.

  • i have a shell case protector on my phone. when i took it off the proximity sensor responded much better and faster and i had no problems with the screen coming on.  when the case is on, its slower to respond, or sometimes does not respond at all.  i may try cutting the case away from the sensor, it must be blocking it just enough by  the case when the phone is moved....

  • I just had the same issue...here are my findings. The Zagg HD ( and regular, both from BB) notch is incorrectly placed and is located at the light sensor and covers the proximity sensor. Now I emailed Zagg and they said this was corrected within a few days but BB still has original defective product on their shelves OR the problem hasn't been addressed. I returned the HD version and exchanged it for the regular version and had same issue.

Some folks have had no issues and they either got the corrected version, if it exists, or their particular installation is allowing the sensor to function properly. I am going to return the regular version tomorrow and stop by Sprint and get the ones they have or just go without.
