My HTC's on/off button was slow to respond it now won't work at all.
The phone is stuck in the 'on' position and goes dead once the display times out. If someone calls or a preset alarm goes off, the phone comes to life and acts normally. Once the display goes off again then I'm locked out
All other functions seem to be normal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Drew
Hi Drew,
Sorry to hear that your Power key isn’t responding. I have some troubleshooting tips that might help get your One V working again.
If the power key works when the screen is unlocked, try a soft reset by holding the Power key until the phone shuts itself off and start it up again. This will refresh your phone and may restore its functionality.
You can also try running your phone in Safe Mode to see if the issue is caused by a 3rd party application. The next time you restart your phone, press and hold the Volume Down key when you see the HTC Splash screen. If it worked, you will see the words “Safe Mode” on the bottom of the screen when it loads up. If your power button works normally with safe mode enabled, then the issue is most likely caused by an app. You should delete any apps that were downloaded around the time that the issue started up in your phone. To get out of safe mode, simply restart your phone.
If you’re still having issues after this, then your power button may be damaged. At this point, I recommend calling my teammates in customer support to look into this further for you. You can find their contact information at www.htc.com/support.
I have a similar problem. My phone is about 3 months open, and the power button is stuck, so the phone now won't stop restarting. Everything else seems to be working, but my phone has now become useless because of this problem.
