The DROID ERIS by HTCÂ gets you. You can make this phone your own, and personalize almost everything about it.
I know how to put music/sounds onto my SD card. I know how to enable notification sounds from the SD card. I know how to change the text message tone, but how do I set it to a song/sound on my card? The only options it ever shows me for the text message sound are default tones... Thanks for the help.
This worked for me.
I named the new folder on my SD Card "Notifications" and put the files in there, they were then listed in my my list for alerts.
How do I name the folder "Notifications" on my SD card and put the files there?
When you mount your phone, create a folder on the SD card through the computer and you can call it whatever you please. HeavenLee was correct in calling one notifications for you text message tones. I have mine set up with a "media" folder, and within that I have a "notifications", "ringtones", "alarms", "music", and "wallpapers". These will all come up in their correct places on your Eris when you want to set certain tones for different things.
I have done this to create new notifications. Recently my notifications for text have stopped working. I can hear notifications when choosing a sound, but when I select one for a notification, it doesn't play when I'm sent a text. Anyone have a similar problem?
I'm actually having the exact same problem and I know we're not the only ones.
Ok, i figured it out after much confusion and with some help from 4 HTC phone service people. You must go on your computer and access the SD card, (assuming you know how to do this) create a folder called 'media', then within that 'audio', then within that folder create folders saying 'alarms', 'notifications', & 'ringtones'. I used all lower case letters and you need the 's' at the end of the folders, so basically the exact way in the folders. Then you can put the files in there. HERE'S THE CATCH!! The files in the notifications/alarms folder need to be in .mid file form. The ones in the ringtones folder must be .wav file forms. Otherwise they will not work in that form. So to simplify, here is how it goes with the folders: media >> audio >> notifications, ringtones, or alarms. Then the files in notifications/alarms must be ".mid" files and the ringtones must be in ".wav" files. This will def. work!! If not, call HTC multiple times til you get enough help like me lol.
It's AWESOME! I love it. With my Verizon Droid Eris I was able to customize my ringtones, notifications alerts, and text message notifications. It is AWESOME ;) Yeah, mine are all in mp3 format. I created the notifications & ringtones folders and placed them into the 100 Media folder located in the dcim folder which was on my MicroSD card. This is AWESOME!!!!
