Yeah right. . . and monkeys will fly out my butt. I do not think it will ever happen.
Can someone from HTC confirm or deny this by chance? That would be nice, Gingerbread and all..hopefully battery life increases.
Ken
That would be nice. When they updated to 2.2 it was pushed in the approximate order of purchase. I got my Incredible the first day it was released and it's June 28 now.
Didn't get it on 6/27 as the post said!
Yep, still waiting was anyone surprised. If anyone had got it they would have posted about it.
Wow...and only SEVEN months after the Gingerbread Man was cooked! I so wish Big Red would get the new Nexus phone...
Im sorry I havent replied and Im sorry that I provided a false launch date. It was going out on June 27 but was delayed due to some phones still running A2.1, and I just was able to get a hold of some information.
Evan, as posted in the original post, has confirmed a push for this Monday (7-11). He says its confirmed, but we will see.
So, with the Incredible getting Gingerbread..I have a few things that don't make sense to me about this:
1. Why is the Droid Incredible 2 receiving it before the Incredible 1? Seems the Incredible 1 would receive it before the new one?
2. Why is HTC so forthcoming about Gingerbread being released for other devices such as Thunderbolt..but when I e-mail them to ask about the Incredible...they have no information what so ever.
3. If you know so much, why is Verizon also denying any Gingerbread information for the Incredible 1?
It just seems to many things aren't adding up here! Also, now that the Droid Incredible 2 is getting Gingerbread - I think that makes it sure that our phones will NEVER receive it!
And, a note: I think your release date for the Dinc 1 is actually being confused for Gingerbread for the Dinc 2!!!

I agree with ken. It seems that they, HTC, are always forthcoming with info regarding updates and such. They usually post on Facebook and Twitter. so why wouldn't they announce it for incredible? I won't be holding my breath come Monday. I'll look for it, but won't be disappointed if its not there.
Agreed! This looks like a "we are phasing out your phone" move. It's still a good phone, and can handle GB, I think....what incentive is there to buy the new model when the old one is still getting updates? Makes business sense.
I emailed HTC twice about this. Both times they confirmed that the Incredible will receive the 2.3 update this summer, but I couldn't get a specific date from them. The first time I emailed them was in January and the second time was about a month ago, so nothing's changed.
Hmm, well thats funny. Because this is what HTC told me about the Droid Incredible ROM update to Gingerbread on June 19th, 2011:
Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC. We will gladly assist you with your inquiry regarding the Android 2.3 ROM update for the HTC Incredible. Before releasing a ROM update to your carrier, we have to be sure that the software is going to work properly with the device hardware such as the processor, and on your carrier’s network. The ROM upgrades are only created once we have received a request to do so from the carrier. The testing of a ROM upgrade also takes some time, but will result in an update that is optimized to work on your device and on your carrier’s network. While we want to release software as soon as we can, we will only do so once the software has passed our quality standards. Once the update is completed, we then provide it to your carrier who will then distribute the update to their customers, usually over the air, but occasionally (though rarely) by means of download. At this time we do not have any information about an update request for the HTC Incredible. When the update is released it will be announced on HTC.com or at your carrier's own site. If you prefer, you may also follow HTC on twitter or facebook. We hope this clarifies the question you had regarding the Android 2.3 update for the HTC Incredible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Keep in mind that we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have between 6am to 1am EDST, 7 days a week for your convenience. So, apparently they have changed their minds?
I received a similar response on July 5, 2011:
I understand that you are interested in an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update for your HTC Droid Incredible. Samika, although we are currently developing Gingerbread updates for a number of our existing phones, there is not currently a finalized list of phones that will be receiving the update (nor do we have accurate timelines for these updates).
My suggestion, Samika, would be to keep an eye on our support site at htc.com for any updates as to whether your phone will be updated. I hope that this is helpful, and please let me know if you have any other questions. One minute all HTC phones should be updated by the summer and now there's not a final decision on which phones will be updated. I do agree that the Incredible 2 will most likely get the update instead of Incredible 1. In due time I guess we'll see. But I'm not holding my breath on receiving any kind of update today or anytime soon.
oh well...wrong again Guess august 8 next time
