Just spoke to someone on twitter from the VZW support! What a waste he didn't have an answer at the moment. Why tell ppl about an update w/out a release date.
especially since it was supposed to launch in june. you would of thought this extra time would've been used to test. this experience has soured me on htc and vzw.
I think its ultimately HTC's fault. They ppl it'd be released sometime in late summer but it now approaching fall and neither HTC or Verizon will fess up any details. I don't think it's coming. It was a gimmick to keep ppl happy til they tell the truth.
I still think it is coming. Why would they say last week no upgarde only a week later say their is an upgrade and put the materials on the web. It is obvious they all mishandled the situation but hey almost have to upgrade at this point. HTC is gonna hemorrage badly from this especially with the google moto deal, they can't afford to upset this many people.
Yup, it'll be HTC 's downfall. And the fiasco with the 2.3 update to the dinc has caused me to reconsider getting another HTC when my upgrade comes
I just received this response from HTC which further backs my opinion about the "update"
Dear simon kelso,
I understand that you would like information regarding when the Gingerbread update for the HTC Incredible will be released. I know how important it is to have the most recent updates for your device.
At this time, I do not have information regarding the release date of this update. Once information becomes available, you will be able to find it on our website at: www.htc.com/us along with our Facebook and Twitter social sites. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.
hi people today verizon posted that the droid incredible has been delayed because some bugs shown by the test users so now we have to wait till the solve that bug
its funny I have never seen any info posted on any of their sites. if they did embed were transparent with info we wouldn't be so frustrated
Well after hours arguing with HTC through email I got this response!
Hi, I'm James I work in HTC Escalations. I understand you are wanting more information on the Droid Incredible update. It is going to come out soon but there was a delay due to a minor issue that is being worked on. Until this issue is resolved we will not have a release date.
My advice to you is this. Get a Motorola Phone. I have the Droid X and I absolutely love it. Motorola also sends out updates and the Droid X was the first phone to get the 2.3 GB update. DINC is old news. My mom has that phone and I can't stand it. The screen size and sense on it sucks. Display coloring is awful. If you look at the displays these days you'll realize this. For Example the DX2 has a qHD display and Samsung's Super Amoled screens. The screen on the DINC is 3.7inches same size as the iPhone 3GS. I'd drop HTC, because the company just sucks. I know I'll get banned for what I'm saying, but there's nothing wrong with a freedom of speech. I've went to bat for my mom with HTC and VZW about the 2.3 update and no one knows anything. They however made the update appear quickly for the DINC S, 2. If you all are here thinking they will release it anytime soon, you're sadly mistaken because it's not that important to HTC because the phone has been discontinued and no longer supported..meaning, not profitable for HTC. DINC S, 2 are still being sold, so they made sure to get the updates out for those phones. am I right? That's all I'm going to say.. Droid Bionic by Motorola will wipe the floor with HTC when it's released.
hi people yesterday htc tweet that both droid incredible and thunderbolt will be getting 2.3.4 gingerbread in this month after releasing couple test builds so let`s wait couple days to finally get this bugless update
Yet HTC Droid Incredible 2 only got 2.3.3 and its the one with the front facing camera. Go figure
Android Community confirmed that the Gingerbread update started rolling out yesterday for the Dinc.
My wife's DINC was upgraded at 7:00 AM today.
Thanks for the notice! Still waiting here in SC...
