It blazes across the digital universe. It snaps stunning 8-megapixel photos. It zips them instantly to all of your 8,000 friends. With such attention to detail on the inside and out, the name of this phone pretty much says it all.
ok, I just did another factory reset. I brought in the Google mail and Yahoo mail. That's it. No apps whatsoever. I did not activate any Facebooks or any of the other preloaded stuff. I didn't even do the Backup Assistant. Still getting the same up time and sleep time. Any other suggestions? I'm willing to try anything.
Disable always on internet, so that when you phone wants to sleep it can. Also check how often you have the phone syncing with Yahoo and Gmail. I looked to see what other problems you posted but didnt see any. The other thing I found was if you use the desk clock, it does not allow the phone to sleep. One last thing. Put the phone in airplane mode, let it sit for a while, then recheck your up and awake time.
looks like your GPS is on you could have a program pulling your GPS location too often. You task killer may be running TOO often, you may have too many apps on it to kill when the phone goes out. Get rid of the task killer, reset the settings on task killer so that you only use it when you want to kill an app.

Anyone who missed the above post, this is INCREDIBLE, and very informative!!! Go READ IT.
@TedM- Thank you for the tips! I put it in Airplane mode and the uptime and sleep time are still exactly the same. The GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth etc are all off. My app killer, is not set to automatic, I don't use desk clock and the Yahoo mail updates every hour. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with the phone itself.
I think you may be right? ! How long is your battery lasting? I cant think of anything else. Get on a list through VZ tech for a new Incredible...maybe tech has a small supply to swap out at your local store. Maybe the tech at the local store can fix it for you. You would need to leave it there for a few hours though.
I work 7p-7a. I unplug my phone @ 4p when I get up, I charge it with the phone ON as I use it as my alarm clock, also using desk clock so I can see the time if I wake up and need to go back to sleep. That said, I have tried the battery tricks of charging off and plug and unplug. They do work, but the little bit you get does not seem to be worth it. It could also be that I did it enough time the battery memory or whatever the problem is, now is fixed. I use the phone throughout my shift to text, email and then on my break. I have WIFI at work so I keep WIFI on all the time and it automatically disable the moble internet, (saving battery). I am on the phone or listening to music my entire drive to work which is 45 mins both ways. On average the last week I have 50% left when I get home from a normal day as above. If I have more free time and play with the phone more at work, I can make it home with 25%. I did do the factory reset and and now careful with the apps I install. I do have FB and FB with sense. So FB is not the problem as some think it may be. I do not sync my FB feed, just my contacts and only once a day. My gmail is the app only, I do not like the way HTC mail does gmail. So all in all I do not have any problems with the battery. With heavy use of internet 3G, no WIFI I think I get about 3-4 hrs of use, that being contiously for 4 hrs using the internet and phone. I also have the brightness level turned all that way down and set to turn off at 1 minute. Please fee free to ask anything.
I completely agree with RoyB about FB for HTC Sense. The same issue happened to me. I still have not reinstalled FB for HTC Sense.
The big culprit I've found are HTC Flickr and the Calendar app. My suggestion is to delete the Flickr account if you have one, then reboot the phone. Download TaskPanel, and enable the register at startup and auto-kill options, then set the Calendar app to auto-kill. You should now find that your phone is sleeping properly and your battery life will DRASTICALLY improve.
The problem here is minimizing your awake time. If your up time and awake time are the same, SOMETHING isn't working correctly and that's why your battery is dying so quickly.
well, I just received another Incredible from Verizon and it's doing the same thing. HTC, nor Verizon can figure it out. What an Incredible disappointment.
Hello guys!
I have posted the reply below on the thread Poor Signal/Reception - Major Issue. Since it also covers this thread's topic, I thought you could also use this info, in case you don't follow that thread.
A while back I posted my thread with the HTC CS. Since it became useless I gave up replying and posting it here. After that, I received a survey about how they did. I blasted them in it. As a consequence, a higher level CS rep got back to me to ask what was the problem. I have explained him/her and (s)he offered to help me further. Here are the last 3 replies that you may find useful, if you haven's seen these answers elsewhere. They are about hot topics like: signal/reception, battery life, screen visibility. They appear to be coming from a way more intelligent CS rep, and they also look pretty honest to me, although I do not like the news they transmit. Feel free to follow the CS rep's advices below, and please post your feedback here. I will reply back to the CS rep based on my experience and yours. So, be honest and as objective as you can, please.

Hello (Me), I understand your frustration with the agent, and I will get that addressed. However, for the issues you are having on your Droid Incredible other than signal issue which I have addressed, is there anything else I can assist you with?

Hi! I appreciate your perseverance. In fact, there is something else.
The other major issue with the Incredible is the quick battery drainage. Now, please don't give me the speech about how this kind of devices drain the battery fast due to power, usage pattern etc. I'm all aware of that. I didn't expect the battery to last a week, but at least a full working day without having to charge it, with moderate usage. Doesn't happen. I hope you took note of your own fault at this issue, and I'm talking about your "Facebook by HTC" app that comes with the phone, and that you are tempted to use when setting up the phone the first time. That app is an energy hog by not letting the phone go to sleep. I do hope that you read at least your own forum on this device, to find out about the issues. This is how I found out about this issue, form the others. I turned that app off, and the battery definitely lasts much longer. I hope you're gonna fix this up with an update. In general, there are complaints about quite a few of your Sense UI widgets. Therefore, any tips on how to prolong the battery life? And please, don't read me from the book. Don't tell me to turn off this, not use that. I know that not using the device makes the battery last longer. I'm talking about tips like the one with your Facebook app.
Going back to the signal: how are you planning to solve the issue that when holding the phone in the palm the signal strength decreases by about 7 dBm as compared to when one holds it with 2 fingers from the upper left corner? When I read this on one of the forums I thought it was a joke. But I tried it myself and it was true. What kind of crappy antenna did you put in this device? And don't tell me that I have to hold the phone with the tips of my fingers, like I saw posted an advice from one of your reps. That's just ridiculous. And because of this signal issue I do drop calls, the other party's speech breaks off or the voice gets "robotic".
Any advice on how to make the screen more visible in direct sunlight, it's often times literally unusable, no exaggeration? I live in FL. I'm outside a lot. I'm sure you know this is another major issue.
Overall this device is very nice. But unfortunately it has a few major flows, the once discussed above. There are many other small things, but they are not a pain in the neck. That's about it for now. Thanks.

Hello (Me), I would like you to try these steps to help improve your battery life. First connect your phone to the charger with it powered on. Once it is fully charged, disconnect the phone from the charger and then power the phone off. Connect the phone back to the charger and charge it with the phone powered OFF until its fully charged. Next disconnect the phone, power it on, and the power it off, and reconnect the phone with it OFF and charge the phone until it is fully charged. Disconnect and use. As far as the Facebook goes you can change the update frequency by pressing Menu from the Home screen, select Settings, tap on Accounts and Sync, select Facebook, and change the Account Settings. I would recommend changing the other email accounts, and other accounts sync frequencies. As far as the HTC Sense widgets, these only update if you scroll to the home screen they are on.
As far as the ROM update for the signal issue, this will most likely be released as an Over-The-Air or OTA update for your phone. These issues with the signal may also be causing some of the battery issues as well. Until then, yes, you will most likely have to adjust how you are holding the phone or possibly use a Bluetooth headset to allow you to place the phone in a holster that may not cover the antenna.
For the screen issue, unfortunately, these screens are AMOLED screens and are not specifically designed to be use direct sunlight. These are more designed to be office and home based phones. You can attempt to tilt the screen towards you, i.e. Hold the phone vertical, then tilt the front closer to you similar to this ( / ) and look downward to the screen, this may provide some better viewing.
Otherwise, I do apologize for the inconveniences. Thanks, Danty.
So HTC is actually recommending the bumb charge method? Well, I guess that bodes well for an official update to correct the problem.
I gotta say, I was initially shocked by the short battery life on the Incredible. My LG EnV2 never had to be charged more than once weekly (and seldom even that often) and all my phones going back into the late-1990s had better battery life, although for the most part they were just cell phones, with the EnV2 being the nearest thing to a smartphone I ever had.
But I have gotten used to charging it every night now, and it seldom drops more than one or two increments off its battery charge indicator during the course of a day, even with heavy email and Internet use. I have STILL yet to drop my first call or fail to get good throughput on the Internet or email.
The only time since I got it back on April 29th when it didn't make it through the day 'til bedtime was when I watched an entire Washington Nationals baseball game on its AMOLED screen, something that was remarkably satisfactory for such a small viewing area. It got through the entire game, but then ran out of juice just moments later. We lost so that REALLY blew chunks!
But it is a bit much to expect us to first charge the phone, then turn it completely off, charge it all the way up again, then disconnect it, reconnect it, power it up, power it down, and then charge it yet again with the power off. For one thing, I'd probably miss a lot of calls!
I just got my incredible last week and think it is great, except for the charging issue. The only way I can get a day's worth of charge is to turn off the phone after it has been on and charging for a night, turn off the phone and recharge it until the light turns green. This creates a problem when I use this phone for people needing to get a hold of me or for business emails, since I got rid of my BB. If this is an issue I would think HTC would issue an fix for the charging issue, any suggestions?
They do say a new battery is coming. I can't find it on Verizon's website yet, though (I just checked).
