I only had my phone for a couple of weeks before it stopped working all together. The phone wont boot up at all. I put it on the charger before I went to sleep and when I woke up it was completely broke. The phone wont boot up at all, it will start to turn on then freeze at the htc Incredible screen. It will never boot up all the way. When it gets to this screen nothing else will happen, the power button wont work to turn the phone off. The only way to turn it off is to take the battery out.
I can get to the factory reset page by powering off the phone, holding the volume down button, and tapping the power button. I have tried every option on this page and nothing has fixed my problem.
I took it into verizon they could not have been more useless. In her effort to troubleshoot my issue she asked me the question "has your phone powered off on its own unexpectedly". Of course my answer was no, because my problem is that my phone wont turn on in the first place.
Verizon is sending me a replacement, but I am completely with out a phone until then. Verizon dosen't do loaner phones.
I switched from AT&T to verizion because of the incredible. Boy did I make a mistake.
Does anyone have some thoughts on what to do?
Yes. Get the new phone and move on. No system is 100% perfect and sometimes you get a lemon as you obviously did. A replacement will get you back in the game.
My MyTouch 3G just did the same thing! I've had my phone for less than a year and it's always gently used, but in the last 4 months i've had to have it factory reset twice and now i have to have a replacement sent to me for this exact same issue you had. Since you got your new phone have you had the same issue at all? Like you I am questioning the decision to keep my MyTouch and carrier.
I'm on phone #3. I think part of the problem is the.sheer newness of.it and V's lack of experience. The first one I sent back ...turned out it.was a software not hardware problem...second was hardware...phone kept cycling thru home screens. I read on a blog that it was better to get a "like new" than a new bc they have really rigorous tests ...this from a V tech!
This forum helps a.lot. I there are.little things u can do to fix things...helpful apps...I couldn't't live without contact remover I'd had so many sync issues I must have reloaded my contacts ten times...but I didn't have to do a hard reset...and now things are falling into place...oh also on the like new..u get it FedEx the next day.
Stick with it man, the Incredible is an awesome device
