  • I have two friends that ordered their HTC Droid Incredible - they will get them next week... I've been reviewing some of the threads; Just wondering about feedback on this new HTC Device.  With the snapgragon processor, it must fly!!?? Any other thoughts? Are you guys happy with yours?  She got hers FREE as she was due for an upgrade thru Verizon.

When I was due for my upgrade thru AT&T I paid $350 for my Tilt 2... What a difference...

I'm sure they will join the forum soon as I have told them about it... Just figured I'd get some honest feedback if people are in love with these - the specs looks AMAZING!!!!!

Is anyone syncing with Outlook?  I'll search the forum but it looks like there might some issues with facebook  -  how does facebook work with the incredible?

I wish I was due for an upgrade as I would love to try an Android device!  I am currently using Microsoft Win Mobile 6.5 Tilt 2; The droids were not out when I purchased mine....

Thoughts???? Are you guys happy with it? Something tells me, YES!! :)

    Take care, Nancy

  • The processor in this phone is fast. The phone works generally smoothly and snappy.  The facebook app leaves a lot to be desired but its not horrible. I cant help you with Outlook, never usedit.

I came over from the Tilt 2 as well. For the most part, im glad I made the switch. However, I am not happy with the call quality issues. Doesnt seem like every phone is affected, but there are a lot of people who have complained about this. I have another regular phone (Verizon  also) that I can make very clear calls on. In the same spot, Ill make a call with my Incredible and the quality is subpar and sometimes sounds muffled  and words will cut out. It is very annoying.

  • that's helpful feedback... thanks so much... interesting about the call quality.

    Interesting for me that you switched from the Tilt2 like I have now (were you with AT&T before;

Did you ever go to Verizon and try a different phone to see if it was a hardware issue with the speakers, with the sounds muffled and words cutting out - that does not seem right at all... How long have you had it?

    Thanks!! :) great feedback.......

  • I have had it for about 3 weeks now. I purchased it at Best Buy and called to exchange it, but every store has been sold out.

HTC says they are aware of a problem and are working on a possible fix. Im not saying youll have the same problem, but i not alone in this. If you can manage to pick one up at a store, vice getting online, try to do so and test the call quality out before you leave the store.

Im still glad I bought the Incredible, Im just praying HTC is able to release a software/firmware update that can fix it or that Best Buy will have one in stores this week that I can exchange with.

  • For other more  specific questions about the phone, check out androidforums.com/htc-incredible

Pretty good forum I found dedicated to the Incredible. Im sure they can answer some Outlook questions too.

  • I have had mine for a month and it is awesome.  I sync with Outlook calendar & contacts and it works perfectly.  The phones seem to be hit or miss in regards to call quality, but mine has worked everywhere I have been.  I just spent 3 days in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where no phone I have ever owned worked very reliably, yet my incredible worked great and never dropped a call.  My experience may the the exception and not the rule, but I am very happy with it.

  • I've had mine for 3 weeks, syncing with Outlook in my Corporate Network thru ActiveSync and having great success.  Lots of mail, calendar and contact use and almost no problems.  Long time pda user - first Palm, then Blackberry - and so far I'm very impressed with the Incredible.  It's a battery hog, but I found an app called Task Killer that I use to shut down background running apps frequently so battery lasts longer.

  • I've had this phone since it was released. Right from the start I've known this phone and OS combo are literally the best on the planet. No other phone can compare. Hands down.

My enthusiasm has recently had a kink thrown into the mix however. With the weather being nicer, I've been spending a lot of time outside. So now for my first CON. You cannot see ANYTHING while outside on a semi-sunny day. I've had other touch screen phones in the past (BB Storm) and I was able to see something...it wasn't the greatest but I could at least see something.

This phone outside in sunlight is unusable unless you know how to use it without looking at the screen, which is basically just blindly answering a call.

Now that is it summer time, I spend a lot of time golfing, boating, etc, etc. I am kind of upset that to use my phone to call my wife yesterday I had to army crawl around the floor of the boat and get underneath the seats and under the counter to get in a semi dark area to use my phone.

    Besides that... BEST PHONE EVER.

  • I've had mine since the day it was released. The speed of the processor is amazing. I've had no issues with call quality. Although my phone displays fewer bars than my Moto Droid when side by side, actual performance is better on the Incredible. Data throughput is much faster. Battery life is so so but that's been true of every smartphone I've ever had. I've learned how to adjust the settings to maximize my battery life while still using the functions I prefer to use (GPS, BT are almost always on).

  • interesting about them being sold out at best buy -

I don't know what State you're in but here in MA they are saying they will arrive on the 6th at Verizon and they are all psyched and ready for them here!!

Someone else just posted that they have a hard time seeing the screen in the sunlight - are you experiencing that also? other than that he says he LOVES IT!!!!

I know with my Tilt2 there is a brightness display, which I'm assuming that he's already tried... when I am inside I have it very dim and when I'm outside I turn it all the way up and I can see fine... It took me months to discover that I even had an adjustment for the display!! LOL

Good luck and hope the sound issue gets resolved either by Best  Buy or HTC.  Please keep us posted...

PS: I know I just bought an item from Best Buy and had a problem and customer service 800 number I called  was soooooooo good to me I was in thrilled! She said whether you spend $20 or $2000 we want to be sure that you are happy.... so if you have not tried yet, you could call customer service rather than deal with the store directly and see if they can help you in regards to getting you on a wait list for a replacement.. When I get good customer service these days I always like to give them a kudos!!! Its hard to find good customer service these day so thanks for coming thru for me Best Buy!

    good luck! Nancy

  • I'm assuming you adjusted the backlight, but if not, this is how to do it: Hopefully this will help you out; I could not see anything with my Tilt2 until I discovered I could adjust the backlight :)

How do I adjust the backlight?

The backlight is set to auto-adjust to the brightness of the room. To manually adjust the backlight, tap Menu > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness. Adjust the setting as desired.

Let me know if this helps, Nancy 1333

  • I downloaded the Brightness Level widget from CurveFish to make adjusting the brightness easier.  25-50% in doors or at night, 100% outdoors on a sunny day.  I have it installed on one of the home pages.  With the brightness at 100% I can see it well enough in full sun to use the phone (except with polarized sunglasses), but would not want to read an ebook with it at the beach.  Otherwise, I have had no issues and find it to be a great phone.  I am a newb to android phones coming off Palm for 10+ years.  It is a huge improvement IMO with fewer crashes than I got used to with my Palm Centro.  Got mine the day of release, and have over 50 apps installed.

  • great to hear:

Just curious - In addition to downloading the brightness app widget curvefish, did you also change the default settings of your Incredible backlight from auto-adjust to manual?  Just wondering if you tried adjusting the brightness first, prior to getting an app to help...

The backlight on the device comes set to "auto-adjust" to the brightness of the room.
****To manually adjust the backlight, tap Menu > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness. Adjust the setting as desired.****

Glad to hear you love it so much!!

Which is your favorite website to download your app's from? :)  I used Palm's for years and years and years and years......... :)

HAVE FUN and thanks for the feedback :)  Nancy

  • I had this phone now for almost a month, and I must say I am disappointed by a few basic functions.

1- The battery life is terrible, especially since you use this device for more than just phone calls.

2- The ringer volume is too low not matter what tone you use even when it is set on full blast.

3- The current software provides no sync functionality and 3rd party apps do not work well enough to do the job.

4- the keyboard keys are too tiny compared to the Apple devices such as the iPod touch or the iPhone. The copy and paste is not user friendly; it is not as smooth as the Apple software.

5- To top it off the app Market is chaotic full a lot of half baked ideas with a few exceptions, but I am sure the open market will take care of that.

I really wanted a real alternative to Apple's devices. This does not fit the bill, but I am still hopeful for future improvements.

  • Nancy,

I found the Brightness Level widget on the Market app that came with the INC.  I have found most of my apps there, but check the reviews and comments (and researched on this site and AndroidForums.com) before installing.  I don't remember if/when I switched the automatic brightness off, but it is turned off.  The Android Marketplace has been my main source for apps, except for the Docs To Go full version that I purchased direct from DataViz.com.

    I do miss Grafitti tho ; )
