I sent a text message and the screen went to a "Loading..." screen. I didn't think anything of it until my friend replied and I couldn't open the message. I just got a "Loading..." screen forever. I sent another message to another number to test it out and that one did the same thing. I have since done a soft reset and any new messaging works fine, with the exception of those two numbers that I originally got the "Loading..." screen with. I am able to click on those messages and they show as read, and I am able to delete them, but I can't read them. I have deleted the contacts and re-entered them, and I have reset the data in my People, and my Messages. That didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this "Loading..." screen issue? Anyone else have this same problem?
I wanted to follow up on this post to see if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone knows how to fix it?
i have the same problem let me know u u hear anything about this issue to fix thx
just fixed mine..you need todo a hard phone reset
If you mean taking the battery out. I've tried that and it didn't work.
I had the same problem and found this solution -- in another thread on this forum. I specifically joined this site to THANK THE PERSON who put this here, because it worked for me!!!
1. Go into your settings, applications, and manage applications.
2. Select the "All" tab, find and click "Contacts Storage"
3. Click Clear Data
Now when you do this keep in mind it will erase your phone book and call history as well..NOT messages though. But you will regain use of your contact card to factory settings..so make sure to back everything up if you are willing to do this to have function of your card back.
The stuck loading screen problem has resolved itself by the phone automatically deleting ALL of my text messages. Now, I don't get the loading screen anymore. I had my text messages set to never delete. I woke up yesterday to absolutely ZERO text messages on my phone, including drafts and locked messages are gone!
All my messages are gone, but hey, my screen isn't stuck on Loading... anymore!
Apparently the limits of stored text messages is about 900, before the phone automatically deletes them on its own.
I can't believe this bug either in the Android OS texting app, or could it be the HTC, will even delete messages that are LOCKED!
Rather than have data erased i tried the following and it worked - similar path to what st18901 posted back in Dec 2010:
Go into your settings, applications, manage applications, "all" tab, messages,"force stop" (at the top of page), and then re-start the phone. .
My never ending circular arrow went away and the stuck message header appeared which I deleted. I am on an HTC Desire
Hope this helps
I had the same issue with my HTC Incredible 2 Droid. My final solution was to Go into your settings, applications, manage applications, "all" tab, messages,"force stop" (at the top of page). Then go into messages and select delete all messages. That seemed to get it working again for now.
Hey guys, i had this problem on my htc sensation xe with ICS. when i received a certain text from someone my messages app froze, although i kept receiving texts. after removing the battery and restarting the phone, i was able to open all other convos except that one person's. so i used Advanced Task Killer to kill the Messaging app, downloaded GO SMS Pro, deleted the text i thought had triggered the hanging, as well as a few other ones around the same time, and was able to solve the problem. Cheers.
