Can you list the actual steps? I'm using astro file manager and I renamed the file moved to the root of my SD. But after that I'm stuck the file half installs then aborts. Can you help me?
Thanks for posting the update. What are the next steps after you've renamed and saved it to the SD root?
you can try this http://jonsuh.com/2011/01/unroot-your-droid-incredible/ if you do not have a backup of your stock rom.
So its the 17th and I still dont have an update. We bought 3 phones at release and only one has updated (and that phone updated a little over a week ago). Have they halted the release?
Emp123: Good question but probably yes.
Hope this helps...going to try it myself. Found it on the Android forums. I have the Incredible 1. My OTA update came through on 9/18/11. After the update, the phone basically became disfunctional. Unable to even make calls. Took to Verizon store and was issued a "certified like new replacement phone with Froyo installed). Took back to Verizon store and asked rep how to get a push for the Gingerbread update. He put me on the phone with Verizon customer support who said that HTC had to issue that push. He then connected me in a three way conference call to an HTC rep who told him that the carrier had to issue the push. He said that he wasn't aware how to do it and advised me that he would send an email to his escalation department and the push would most likely come to me the following morning. He also said that he would give me a follow up phone call the next afternoon to see if all went well.
NEITHER happened. :( Very disappointed.
After some research, I came across the post on the Android forums....kinda' worried that my phone may take another dive, but willing to give it a try. If anyone else wants to try it here's the link to the post with step by step instructions:
Directions for manually downloading and flashing the Stock Gingerbread OTA for the Droid Incredible:
I spoke to a Verizon rep today who said all Incredibles will receive the update by the end of the second week of October.
If you know what Gingerbread brings, then you know it's a relatively simple upgrade. No reason to get impatient. Most of what it does you won't even notice.
What I would like to know is if they will fix the bugs that exist in this upgrade. My HTC Email icon won't show the proper unread email count at all and it's driving me crazy.
I just spoke to Victoria at VZW Data Services Department and she confirmed that the latest OTA has been suspended indefinitely until HTC releases a fixed version. No timeline given as to when the OTA will resume.
My contract runs out in April. I'm going with Motorola. Gingerbread is a year old now, and this is unacceptable.
