I have a Droid Incredible. Hotmail recently upgraded its service and now offers Exchange ActiveSync support. However I am not able to setup a Exchange Server on my Phone.
I am entering
Email: xxxx@live.com Server: m.hotmail.com Domain: <blank>Username: xxxx@live.com Password xxxxx SSL: Required It passes the authentication, but then when I press "Finish Setup" it throws an error saying: "Failed to create the account. Please try again later". Can someone please help.
Thanks, Pranay

thanks
Please can anyone help? I have thesame problem as JLC6198
Hotmail does not yet support android. Go to the hotmail site, and you can read more. There are apparently some people for whom this worked, but not all by far. Expect that to change later this year.
Um.. not necessarily true. I have Hotmail accounts working just fine with with inatantanious push email on both Droid X and Samsung Fascinate and mail comes in seconds . The eeason i came to this thread was because it isn't working using those same settings on the HTC Incredible. I get the same "failed to create account " error that the above poster is getting. That lead me here so this issue seems to be more specifically for the Incredible. Despite the fact Hotmail does not officially support Android yet the settings I found hotmail has for the IPhone work fine on the my 2 Android devices.
Has anyone gotten this to work? I'm experiencing the exact same difficulty.
I am ready to return my Incredible, as I was hoping this would have been resolved by now. It seems to be the particular implementation of the Incredible's software.
I have this working on my HTC incredible. What I did was install the official Android 2.2 Email.apk file, and stopped using HTC's garbage "Mail" app. HTC has crippled the mail app in their version of it, so just switching back to the Android version solved all my issues.
HTC, you should know better than to replace working apps with sub-standard custom versions...
Where do u get that email file from?
Just search the web for email.apk and you'll find it.
I have a quick question about this... using the .apk I can only see e-mails in plain text... any solutions?
Other than that, it works great! E-Mail, Contacts, and Calendar sync!
And... I have two hotmail.com accounts set up at the same time... I can "view all" messages on one but can only view the last 30 days on the other... anybody know???
the stock email client doesn't support HTML mail. So it's a trade-off - live with no HTML mail or use HTC's lame POP client to access your mail. There is a setting in the mail app for how many days you can view from the mailbox, so you should be able to change one or the other of your mailboxes to make them the same.
