I'm new here so forgive me if this has been covered.
I looked through tons of posts and did the Google thing. If there is help, this looks like the place!
I can't seem to figure out how to use the phone functions.
If I need to get to the keypad, check something else, etc., while on a call, how do I get phone functions back?
I can hit the icon and get the dial pad or contacts, but where is the phone? How do I put a call on hold or access the speaker, etc.?
Where is the pretty android image that was on my home screen? Where is the speaker icon?
Where did the "telephone" go? I've tried every menu and button to no avail. It would be nice if there was a 'phone' app.
If I'm just dumb and missing something can someone point me it the right direction, please? I've learned a lot from this forum in the last few minutes and am glad I found it!
Has the phone been rooted? it should all be right there once you move the phone, the phone should come right back with the motion or movement of the device?
No, it is not rooted.
The screen coming back when I move it away from my face is not the issue
Make a call. Hit the home button. Now, how do I find the phone functions? I can hit the phone icon and get the dialer, but the 'phone' is gone. No pretty android picture or button for speaker.
Where does the phone go and how do I get it back?
So if I do ANYTHING while on a call, then I can't hang up, use hold, the speaker...any phone functions except the dialer are gone! At least the dialer has a hangup button, but that's it.
So my 'smart phone' won't function during a call without the phone functions disapearing? I must be missing something.
No matter where you go while on a call, you can always hit the "back" arrow on the phone and step your way back to the phone screen - just keep tapping the back arrow.
When you get back to the phone screen that has the Droid Image or the photo of the person you are talking with, you can press the Menu button below the screen and it will bring up all the phone options for place call on hold, join 3 way calls, etc. Read page 47 of your User's Guide for more detailed instructions.
What I think you're asking is how to get the display to reactivate when you are on a call and it (the display) times out and goes into power saver. One of 2 things can be done, the volume up or down button can be pressed or the optical joystick can be pressed à la taking a photo with the camera. This will bring the display back to life.
OK, thanks for all the help, but nobody is reading/understanding the post. If you do as I say you will see the issue.
No worries however, as I figured it out.
Bring up the 'Notifications' either from the drag-down thing at the top (if you have teenie tiny fingers) or through the menu button.
It shows the running phone task and has a 'Hang Up' button. However, if you touch it to the left, not on the hang up button (again, small fingers help) but over near the other side...your phone app comes back!
Geese, the manual sucks, the faqs suck...in fact without user forums, this phone is non-functional.
I like the phone OK, but the Samsung Captivate beats this in every possible way. HTC has some work to do, as Samsung just proved can be done, if you look at their last offering!
Root and rom this thing if you want it to function better...HTC and ATT have hosed a great operating system by 'big brothering' it out...in the great capitalist way we all so love and cherish.
