Hello,
While I am on a phone call using my HTC Aria, the screen goes black a lot during the call, very quickly (usually within 10 seconds of starting the call). When I move the phone or tilt it the screen display turns back on, but only for a short amount of time. This makes it very difficult to use other functions of the phone while I am on a call.
Is there any way to turn this off?
Thanks!
this is part of the phone system... there is a sensor that detects when the phone is close to your face/ear... it turns off the screen to help preserve battery life.... for me personally it does not bother me as i have gotten used to it....but i can see how it would be annoying
Did you install a case that blocks the space just to the right of the speaker? I think that's where the sensor is. I think it's a light sensor. If the sensor is blocked or partially blocked, then the phone is doing what it is designed to do - blank the screen during calls when you hold it next to your face.
Try removing the case and see what happens.
If It works better, get a different case.
No, I don't use any kind of case when I am on a phone call.
Is there any way to disarm that sensor? Or get it to act differently?I truly dislike that feature when I'm on the phone, and have not discovered a way for the screen to remain active.
actually it is good ...if the screen doesn't turn off the when you are talking on the phone your ear or side of your face touches the screen and causes all kinds of things to start happening like hanging up or opening up apps or dialing some one else... there have been a couple of times when the screen did not turn off for some reason and next thing i know my wife is ripping me a new one for hanging up on her ....
So, how long does the phone have to be away from your face/head before it returns to the open screen?
Otherwise, I have to open the screen just to end the call. I think the option should be ours...
BTW, what's the lastest on a 2.2 upgrade?Or they just going to upgrade all of us ATT slaves to 3.0? '-)
More on the phone screen going black during phone calls -
I finally realized that the screen goes black ANYTIME I'm on a phone call, even if the phone is on the table and I'm talking via a Bluetooth device.
Anyone have directions to stop that so that the screen stays on during the phone calls?
It's a PITA to have the screen locked so you have to unlock in order to hit the End button.
I have had my Incredible for some time. Never a problem. Then today I have a blank screen just after I place a call. The only thing I have done differently is change my screen protector. The first one only covered the LCD display area. The new one extends from the top of the phone to the bottom, covering the light sensor and proximity sensor at the top and the four touch pads at the bottom. I am thinking the screen protector is messing with the proximity sensor. I cut the top 1/2 inch off the top. Sigh. No change.
