In the right hands, amazing things happen.
I've discovered a severe "bug" that is not an isolated issue. I am using the AT&T branded Titan, unlocked on Telus Mobility. Works like a charm however after replacing my Titan several times I've discovered there is a MAJOR reoccurring bug in the OS which causes the Titan to "crash" when the storage capacity has reached a certain amount. I have tested it on several replacement Titans. I have also encountered this crash more than 10 times and can reproduce it easily. Other users have also reported encountering the same crash upon testing. When this "crash" takes place when you have filled your storage with media or apps beyond approx. 75% (this may now be inaccurate). Based on my testing the crash occurs sooner when the storage is filled higher. In some instances it occurred within 20 min or less of storage reaching over 90% capacity. In a few cases it crashed the next day. These crashed are not caused by anything specific but will occur randomly. I've witnessed the crash in 2 forms. One a UI glitch which I will explain in a moment. The other is simply the phone being stuck on the white HTC boot screen which can only be resolved with a hard reset. The other more common crash appears as a UI glitch at first and you can no longer launch any apps, any tiles or anything at all. You are forced to do a soft reset (which tricks you to think this fixes the odd UI glitch). Upon soft reset the phone will take much longer to reboot than normal. This is because it's actually entering the first time setup process! Your Windows Live Hotmail hub and account settings are magically and permanently removed as well as your Facebook settings. It is impossible to re-add these back and it will only give you repeated errors when trying to do so.However, all your previous apps, media and some settings will be oddly retained.. for a temporary time until another crash forcing a hard reset. At this point a hard reset is the only way you can re-add your Windows Live Hotmail account and Facebook account. And of course this causes utter sadness since you lose all your settings, media, apps and any Xbox Live game progress (in my case A LOT of progress). As mentioned this is not an isolated issue and needs to be addressed. I have decided to contact HTC directly about this in hopes for a resolution. Originally it was thought when you go over 75% capacity of storage this crash would occur however I discovered yesterday that this crash occurred for me with only 7Gb storage remaining BUT was stable for over a month before the crash occurred.

As well I have uploaded a video of what exactly occurs when this crash takes place here:
i had this happen to me twice already within a week. the first time last week i was addine more music when all of a sudden all my apps were gone, my outlook and hotmail was also gone. when i looked at the memory, it still retained the space for them but there was no way of accessing my apps or my music. Just now it happened again but this time i wasnt able to get into my hotmail, game hub or anything else. i've had to reload my phone now twice in 2 weeks. get this fixed please! i love the phone but I cant take this anymore.
I have also recently seen this exact problem over tha past week with this device. I have consistently run my phone withn 1-2 GB of free space for about a month until this problem started.
i have had the same thing happen to me. it was a game i was installing and it didnt finish. after that the tiles became unresponsive, followed by the rest of the symtoms. eventually you have to remove the battery and it refuses to charge and gets stuck on a boot screen loop. eventually you'll have to hold down up and down volume buttons and power button, to go to htc bios of sorts. then you have to unplug your charger, use volume buttons to navigate and use power button to select reset device. all while not trying t let phone die. then you have to press down volume rocker to confirm then plug phone back in to allow it to restart to default conditions (will lose all your info). THIS POST OF YOURS IS SO IMPORTANT! you must go to wpcentral and journalists with pull to contact htc and fix this. this is a terrible problem...!!! your video is so helpful.
wow its been 20 days and no one from HTC has even comments about this. What's up with that? I understand that a fix takes time while they investigate but if 4 users are having the same issue in different parts of the country, there has to be something wrong. At least acknowledge that you are looking into it. Make me feel a little warm and fuzzy. This was the reason why I left my Sansung Focus for the HTC Titan. I felt Samsung didn't care... oh well, next up will be Nokia I guess.
I posted this thread with no real expectation that HTC would reply or actually care. I think as yoyoma posted above, the only way anything would ever get resolved is it were brought up to someone higher up. But HTC likely won't care with the TITAN 2 around the corner.
And it is happening to way more than just a handful of us. Since the time of posting this discussion my original thread over at XDA has been viewed more than 2300 times. Clearly other people are experiencing this problem.
I've had this happen 3 times now. This must be fixed!
I've spoken with a couple of the HTC technical leads. If you are having this problem you should get in touch with HTC customer support directly and mention the posts on this forum.
you can unsync your facebook from your windows live ID and that will let you probably fix this issue you are having.
shouldn't HTC be telling us to do this? my experience with switching phones is that I get a refurbished phone, not a new one. how do i make sure i get a new one, not an old one?
I've had this happen as well....I bought an unlocked version from the US (ATT branded) through expansys. I am up in Canada, and now am very pissed. Is there going to be some sort of software update to correct this????
That could be an option however I'm in Canada (Toronto specifically) where they don't sell the Titan. I purchased this off eBay without a receipt so I can't see HTC offering a swap.
OUCH! Sorry to hear that...it's true, without the receipt you won't get far. Still, you could call them and ask...you never know, and nothing ventured nothing gained.....worst case scenario is they say what I just did....
ive emailed and called htc and it looks like im going to be jumping hoops. anything i should say or do in particular to get them to undertsand the problem?
so far no good. They are asking me to turn it in to get "fixed". That entails no loaner phone and 3-5 business days of shipping either way for a grand total of upward of 10 business days of shipping and fixing. Does HTC have a windows phone specialist that understands and recognizes the issue ?
