HTC Vive
Arguably the biggest surprise at MWC this year was HTC’s announcement that it had partnered with Valve to launch a virtual reality (VR) headset it has dubbed the HTC Vive.
Most impressive was HTC sticking its neck out and giving fairly aggressive launch timelines for its virtual reality product: a developer kit “in Spring”, and a full commercial launch before the end of 2015.
The system is set to comprise of a VR headset, wireless controllers, and a mechanism to allow what HTC has called “full room scale” — allowing the player to change their perspective in a virtual space by moving around a real room.
