Remember when you were a kid, when a lot of things were made in Taiwan? Taiwan happens to have a large number of industries in a very small surface area. It only takes three hours on a bullet train to travel from the north to the south of the country. Taiwan manufactures everything from headphones to cameras; smartphones; cellphones; refrigerators; air-conditioners; light bulbs; computers and monitors. When I first visited Taiwan in 1997, I met someone and asked him what Taiwan was about. He said, “Taiwan is very simple. If you can dream of it, then you can make it in Taiwan. Well, that stuck with me through the years.

還記得我們小的時候，有很多東西都是台灣製的嗎？這麼多不同發達的產業，全都聚集在一個小地方，小到高速列車只要三小時就能從南到北跑透透。台灣從耳機到相機什麼都做，智慧型手機、電話、電冰箱、冷氣、電燈泡、到電腦主機和螢幕。在我1997剛來到台灣的時候，我遇見了一個人，問他台灣到底是什麼地方，他說「台灣很單純，只要你敢夢，你就能辦到。」這些年我一直都記著這句話。
