[color=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.96)]I remember when VR gear first hit my radar. While reading through this, I couldn’t help but recall a frustrating day setting up my own headset, tangled wires everywhere and error codes popping up like Level Devil on hard mode. Sometimes official threads like this are the only rescue! Extremely useful for troubleshooting.

It appears that while Debian 13 is functioning fine at this point, the primary concern is not whether or not it will work in the real world; the main issue is that there is currently no official indication of support for this platform.

In our experience with using modern stacks (containers, reverse proxies, CI/CD pipelines, API-based services, etc.) prior to reaching "A-grade" support from any operating system, as long as all dependencies were maintained properly, these services continued to work reliably until the operating system reached this level of support.

In order to mitigate this risk from an operations/quality perspective, we generally rely heavily on both automated API testing and the use of AI-enhanced testing tools to accomplish the same objective. Therefore, we routinely perform automated API tests whenever we install a new version of an operating system, as well as when applying updates for security purposes or upgrading dependencies; through this process, we can validate that the services behave consistently and as expected, regardless of the version of the underlying distribution. Using this method provides us with a greater level of confidence in the services provided than if we simply relied on what was indicated by the label of "operating system support".

At present, our action steps would include the following:

Utilize Debian 13 for non-critical or well-monitored production workloads
Provide adequate coverage for automated API and regression testing
Monitor both updates and support timelines from vendors
Reassess once Debian 13 has been marked as being fully supported

With appropriate test coverage, especially using automated API tests that test "real-life" capabilities of applications, there is a high level of confidence in the services provided by them.

Debian 13 doesn't appear to be a blocker at this stage.

Appreciate the insights — happy to share updates if we run into any edge cases.
